Magdeburg will initially take over the lead
The handball players of SC Magdeburg have impressively presented in the fight for the German championship and increased the pressure on favorite foxes Berlin. The defending champion gave the European League winner SG Flensburg-Handewitt at 35:27 (17:12) on the penultimate matchday and pushed the capital city from the top of the table for at least one night.
Because pursuers Melsungen against TBV Lemgo Lippe did not get beyond a 26:26, Magdeburg has the qualification for that due to the clearly better goal difference Champions League Quasi sure. The SCM is now 55 plus points, Berlin with one game less at 54 and Melsungen at 53.
With a home win this Thursday (7:00 p.m./Dyn) against VfL Gummersbach, the foxes can take over the pole position again and start the season finale on Sunday as the leader. There Berlin has to go to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Magdeburg travels to SG BBM Bietigheim.
Sacrificing dismissal for DHB captain Golla
Magdeburg dominated Flensburg right from the start – although playmaker Gisli Kristjansson was not available due to a shoulder injury. But the North Germans also had to cope with a failure in the first half. National team captain Johannes Golla saw the red card after around 20 minutes.
Crime thriller in the table cellar
In the fight for relegation, a trio gets a head-to-head race. Because Bietigheim won at SC DHfK Leipzig with 34:25 (18: 9), HC Erlangen slipped on relegation place 17 before the last match day. Just like the TVB Stuttgart, the Middle Franconia are 16 plus points. Stuttgart still has two games. VfL Potsdam is already the first relegation.
