Madlenianum marks 150 years of Bizea and Ravela Prime Minister « Carmen Suite & Bolero » – Culture
To meet a world day game, which is celebrated around the world. April 29, Madlenianum will be hosted by the premiere of Ballet « Carmen Suite & Bolero ».
Choreographer Aleksandar Ilić brings modern interpretation of two music masterpieces – « Carmen Suite » to the Music of Gross Biza in the adaptation of Rodion Šcedra, as well as « Bolera » Moris Ravela.
This premiere also has a special significance – Madlenianum marks her 150 years since the death of Great Biza and 150 years since the birth of Moris Ravel, a merging act of two large composers in a strong artistic experience.
Passion and hypnosis on stage
Ballet « Carmen Suite » brings adaptation of the famous Biza’s opera « Carmen », telling a passionate story about the unpleasant and challenging Carmen, a symbol of freedom and destiny that cannot be avoided.
Relying on virtuose music, Ilic builds a new choreographic dynamics, in which strength and emotion intertwine in a powerful stage expression.
« Bolero », one of the most recognizable musical parts 20. century, in Ilic’s vision becomes a hypnotic dance spectacle.
The gradual amplification of rhythms and energy, characterized by Ravel’s composition, is transcended in a choreography investigating tension, repetition and unstoppable growth of dramatic tension.
In the title role of Karmen, Gala Jovanović, Solo Straža, Eskamilja – Toma Kriznar, Zunige – Nikola Bjanko, and the role of denses will interpret Feodora Grujić.
The main soloist of Ravel’s « Bolera » will be Ognjen Vucinić, with Katarin Bućić, Jovan Grujić, Vladimira Čubrila, Katarina Ilijašević and the players ensemble.
Aleksandar Ilić – an artist innovative visions
Aleksandar Ilic is a recognized Serbian choreographer and a ballet artist, known for its innovative approach to the classic and modern ballet.
He obtained his formal education in the « Lujo Davičo ‘ballet school in Belgrade, and finished postgraduate studies at the Music Conservatory and Trinity Laban Dance in London. He built his artistic career in significant ballet ensembles in the country and abroad.
His choreographic works are recognizable by a strong emotion, precise dance of expressiveness and modern interpretation of classic works. He has collaborated with leading ballet troops and conquered recognitions for his copyrights, which are performed on prestigious scenes.
The choreography for ballet « Carmen Suite » was done based on the original version of Albert Alons, while « Bolero » was placed in a modern playing expression in cooperation with fierce Vučinić, Katarin Bućić, Jovan Grujić, Vladimir Čubrilo and other performers.
Through « Carmen Suite & Bolero », Ilic once again proves its ability to translate classical music into a powerful dance language, which communicates under the traditional and modern audience.
Realization of ballet « Carmen Suite & Bolero » was created in the co-production of Opera and Theater Madlenianum and the Institute for the Art Game.
