Brückner was accused of three rapes and two cases of sexual harassment of children in 2000-2017 in Portugal, near the Praia da Luz resort in the Algarve, from where Madeleine disappeared during the holidays with her parents.
In October last year, the court in Brunschwik acquitted Brückner of all five allegations. This means that the man will be able to leave the prison this year.
Currently, Brückner is serving a seven -year sentence for rape at an older woman from the USA in the Algarve in 2005. Although he has not yet been charged with Madeleine, prosecutors have long been convinced of his guilt. Unfortunately, they also have a conviction that the girl is dead.
On Thursday, May 15, Brückner was brought to court in connection with the insult of prison guards in the German prison, in which he takes the sentence. The 48-year-old was to call them a « laughing stock » at the news that they discussed the possibility of transferring him from the isolation.
Journalists « The Mirror » used the moment when he was leaving the courtroom to ask him the basic question: « Did you kidnap Madelaine McCann? » Another reporter asked if he killed the girl. On the recording recorded by journalists you can see Brückner’s icy eye and pity smile, which he sent them when he heard the questions.
Christian Brückner is not guilty
The earliest date, when Brückner may be released from prison in Sehnde, is September. However, his lawyer in an interview with « The Mirror » said that a more realistic term, due to the inability to pay the fines he is still in arrears, is February next year.
A 48-year-old lawyer, Friedrich Fulscher, claims that his client denies any participation in the disappearance of Madeleine, as well as the current allegations and said that he was « stressed » by the presence of the media under which he has been firing since 2020, when he was revealed that he was to be behind the disappearance of the girl.
