Macron urges Europeans to reject the « happy vassal » towards the United States
French President Emmanuel Macron has urged Europeans to reject the « happy vasalist » towards the United States, especially in conditions of unpredictability of US President Donald Trump's administration, both in terms of the situation in Ukraine and on the issue of customs.
During his visit to Lisbon, Macron urged Europe to be « more united and stronger than ever » and recognize the importance of risk, ambition and power in facing challenges, French television BFM reported.
« Europeans must be united and stronger than ever, » Macron said, adding that it requires deep strategic decisions – especially in technological, industrial and defense issues.
He also stressed that the answer to these challenges is not « obedience » but proactive action. During his stay in Portugal, first such a trip to the French president after more than 25 years, Macron stressed the importance of Franco-Portuguese relations, which, according to him, is the basis for a stronger Europe.
Signing several agreements between France and Portugal, including a « Friendship and Cooperation Agreement ». In the context of international politics, Macron praised the visit of Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski to Washington, describing it as a « good thing » for Ukraine, which is struggling for sovereignty and security.
