Nexis Fibers Executive Director Ján Kučeravý evaluates the situation in the company in connection with energy as critical. « We’re starting to bleed, » he says.

They are standing for the fourth week

The manufacturer of industrial fibers Nexis Fibers shut down the production of March 28, as soon as the Chemes Industrial Park had terminated the lease for energy equipment without giving any reason. The bankruptcy trustee Chemes, AS, announced that he would terminate the supply of all energy at the same date.

Are considering mass redundancies

Curlyy does not hide the fact that their customers are becoming nervous.

“Last Thursday (April 17 – Note.) She left our warehouse Last shipment, not complete, to the Hungarian production plant of the French company Michelin. It’s our biggest customer. Next week, the lines will have to start to shut down, and this will be a great deal of damage, ”he says.

If the situation does not change by the end of this week, Nexis will be forced to report mass redundancies at the Labor Office. 295 employees would apply. « We can’t wait until the end of the month, » he says.

The current situation perceives all the more painful that the company has enough orders, the economic situation has improved, and inherently it is a unique company in Europe, as only one company in Germany has a similar polyamide -based production program in the European Union.

« Polyamide 6 fibers in the European Union do not produce any other manufacturer besides us. We cannot produce because we do not have energy, » adds curly, adding that in addition to electricity and heat, the company has also taken compressed air, cold, nitrogen and water from the industrial park.

Curly: We need positive information

According to Kučeravý, they remain two to three days to solve the situation. If the power supply was restored again, they could start production in 24 to 48 hours.

« We need to get positive information and move it on to our customers. We know to send our production to the Hungarian plant Michelin, by small transports, flexibly to send our production to the Hungarian plant to avert the risk of losing our most important customer, » adds Kučeravý.

On Monday, if the situation does not change, Nexis Fibers employees are going to the streets again to alert the endangered jobs. They did so repeatedly in 2020, when problems with the supply of energy and media in the industrial park began.

Despite the emergency situation of spreading coronavirus Then they organized protest actions in Humenné and Bratislava. At that time, local government and politicians were involved in the settlement of the dispute between Chemes and Nexis.
