Macedonia will take over the presidency of Essair and the Adriatic-Ionic Initiative today
On the sidelines of the tenth annual forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (Essair) held on the island of Crete within the Greek Presidency, the country will officially take over the next presidency of Essaire from the host Greece at a solemn ceremony.
It is the first presidency since the country became part of these formats for regional cooperation, and our delegation is led by European Affairs Minister Orhan Murtezani.
The jubilee tenth forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian region that began yesterday is part of the Greek Presidency with the EU Macro Regional Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (Essair) and the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AI), and according to the Ministry of Economics, Adoption of the Cretan Declaration;
According to the Ministry of European Affairs, Minister Murtezani will participate in the presidency ceremony, at the EU Fund Ministers and the ministerial meeting, as part of the wider forum agenda dedicated to strengthening regional cooperation, connection and integration.
The Presidency of Macedonia with Essair and the Adriatic-Ionic Initiative begins on June 1, 2025 and will last one year.
The Greek presidency of Essair began last year and ends at the end of the month.
-The purpose of the Greek Presidency and the forum is to strengthen regional cooperation in the Adriatic-Ionic Macro Region, promotion of the European perspective of the Western Balkans, highlighting the role of social cohesion, highlighting blue skills and dealing with climate change in the new revised action plan, Both Finance and Foreign Affairs of Greece.
