LV Hospis will start work on the first Hospisa Care Day Center in Latvia / Day

This will be the first Hospisa Day Center in Latvia, and its creation is an important step towards quality, affordable and respectful hospitaries at the end of their lifetime, offering versatile support in non -healing people whose quality of life is influenced by both health and social conditions.

During the meeting, Ilze Zosule and Ilze Neimane-Nest, co-founder of « Hospis LV », introduced the concept of the intended day center, its goals, functions and importance to improve the quality of life of a non-healed patient. Andris Varna, Member of the Board of the State Real Estate (VNĪ), provided an insight into the technical condition, availability of the building and the support of state institutions in implementing such a socially important project. Architect Brigita Bula, on the other hand, introduced the layout of the premises and the vision of their future layout.

Since the beginning of 2024, state -funded palliative care for the patient’s residence is available in Latvia, but Hospis LV’s experience shows that unfortunately some hospisa patients live in poor or antisanitary conditions, and not always at home.

« Our team has seen the real circumstances in which part of hospisa patients – for example, in garden houses without flooring, where a person is lying on a mattress placed directly on the ground. There are homes that have no water supply or electric connection. Baths to provide such a service, « says Ilze Zosule, co -founder of Hospis LV.

Hospisa Day Center will be a place where patients will be able to receive holistic care – both healing and hygiene services, and emotional, social and spiritual support. Similarly, Hospisa Day Center will have the opportunity to socialize – share their experiences and feelings with people in a similar situation. Not only does this mutual interaction reduce the feeling of loneliness, they also provide emotional support, because these people are able to understand each other in the depth of no one else.

« We are truly pleased with the possibility of inspiring a new breath in this historic, Rigans’ important Sakta building and making it a useful, easy -to -find place. The Hospisa Day Center should become another safe support point for people faced an incurable disease – a place to get not only professional medical and psychosocial.

The day center will be able to wash in running water – which, unfortunately, is not possible for many patients at home – to receive medical consultations, appropriate medical manipulations, as well as the support of a psychologist or social worker. Volunteers, on the other hand, will help create a cozy, sincere atmosphere – they will be along with a cup of tea or ice cream, conversation or simple presence in silence. Patients will also be able to receive additional services such as hair cutting, which helps maintain self -esteem and provides comfort. At the same time, the day center will give a respite at the moment, knowing that their loved one is safe and cared for. Also thought about the availability of sleeping patients – specialized transport to and from the center will be provided.

« At the same time, the fact that Hospisa’s Day Center will be in the city center is a clear message to the public. People who face serious illness are not somewhere far or invisible – they are our fellow human beings. They are part of our society, as important as anyone else. We must not isolate them or forget them. Career, but also happy.

Architect Birigta Bula explained that the creation of the Hospisa Day Center in the heart of Riga is a significant and even revolutionary turn, both practical, accessible to people at the end of life, and in public awareness of how important it is to provide respectful and quality support at this stage.

« When thinking about Hospisa’s Day Center, it seems important to me to combine two things – to restore the meaning of the place and the memories it holds in the hearts of many Rigans, as well as create cozy, comfortably inhabitants and pleasant, healing rooms for Hospisa patients and staff, » Bull said.

Cooperation with state institutions is very important in implementing socially significant projects with long -term impact such as the establishment of the Hospisa Day Center. The Hospis LV team is grateful to the state’s real estate for their support. This collaboration confirms understanding and desire to participate in the development of health care and social, creating a place where a person can receive respectful, professional and human care at the end of his life.

« Through the time of the Sakta House there are various companies and organizations, each with its own mission, but everyone has played an important role in the hearts of Rigans. With the joins of SIA » Hospiss House « on the ground floor tenants, we hope it will become a beacon for good deeds and support. Andris Vārna, Member of the Board of « State Real Estate ».
