Luxembourg is looking for artists for a monument by Grand Duke Jean
The state of Luxembourg plans to have a monument to Grand Duke Jean (1921 – 2019) to build. For this purpose, he calls in a press release on Wednesday morning to submit applications « for the draft, the implementation and the establishment of a sculpture or bust » of the long -standing Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
« The monument is being built in memory of Son Altesse Royale Grand Duke Jean, who was head of state for almost 36 years, » the press release continues. « His personality is still anchored deep in the heart of the nation and his rule has left a lasting impression in the history of Luxembourg. » As a convinced European and clever diplomat, Grand Duke Jean understood « to keep the colors of Luxembourg up both home and abroad », and as head of state, he had honored himself through his calm, goodwill and a natural elegance.
The monument to the Grand Duke from 1964 to 2000 is to be built in the capital Park Edouard André. According to the message, professional visual artists can apply until 4 p.m. at 4 p.m. After this first application phase, a selection process will take place, after which five to ten candidates can work out their preliminary designs. A winner should then be chosen from this pre -selection.
