Luka Elsner found a new challenge in Poland: I see great potential here
Well, every tourist who was in Kraków knows that this is one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful Polish city. The former capital of Poland, of course, has several football clubs, in the first league (Extraclas) play Cracovia, five -time Polish champion, most recently in 1948, second -team Wisł Kraków, and this season did not break into the elite class again through qualifications, the Polish champion was thirteen times. Wisła also has a much larger cheerleading base.
Cracovia finished 6 in the 2024/25 season in Extraclasa, this is of course not bad, but it showed it even better in the fall. After half the championship, she was in 4th place, and spring unprecedented games were convinced by the club leadership not to keep the coach Dawida Kroczka. The sixth place was a considerable progress, as Cracovia was thirteenth in the 2023/24 season. However, this result did not satisfy the club’s management, which wanted the team to acquire the right to appear in the conference league. The new coach is expected to achieve this goal. A parallel story in France is that Reims is in a shrink struggle to stay in February discharged a Slovenian coach Luka Elsnerbut the Reims was still worse than Metz in additional qualifications and will play in second -team competition in the new season.

How can we relate to this story? The new Cracovie coach is … Luka Elsner. The latter is the club president Mateusz Dróhdž already officially presented at a press conference and Elsner will be after Ante Simnudjiwho in the fall of the catastrophic Wrocław almost succeeded in miraculously retaining in Extraclasa, a new Slovenian coach in Polish football. “When I came, I saw that everything was great. I also liked the atmosphere, and the fact is that Cracovia is the oldest club in Poland with a rich history. I hope that because of the strong foundations, we will be able to build a successful team, « said Luka Elsner, who apologized because he did not speak in Polish at the presentation. He speaks seven languages, but he promised to learn crops quickly.
Brother was Polish champion
“I liked how the Cracovie team played last season, especially I would praise the excellent atmosphere in the stands. I had a deep feeling that I could influence and help players rise to a higher level. I am also a fan of the history of the city and the club. After watching several matches from last season, I have to admit that Cracovia has great potential for success, both in terms of building a team and organization. I mean the stadium and the high -level training center. I had a chance to work at the oldest sports club in France (Le Havre, op. P.) Earlier, so I know what work means in such a symbolically important place. I would also like to thank Dawid Krocz for his work, and thanks to his staff, I can start from a good position, « said 42-year-old Elsner, who has a rich coaching path in Belgium and France. However, he remarked that one of the first tasks would be to improve Cracovie’s defense game.
“The talks were smooth, we really chose the best coach. When I first met with Elsner, we immediately felt the energy that allowed us to start cooperation. He is a coach with a great deal of experience, and he has a great deal of respect for work, is professional, focused on team goals, not individually, and before which I think is a good period in Cracovia, « added the president of the Kraków -club Mateusz Dróorž. Well, interestingly, Luke’s younger brother Rock Elsner Football also played in Poland on his sports journey and in 2012 became a champion with Wroclaw.
