The extended Easter weekend caused on Friday afternoon pressed on the Flemish motorways. Around 1 p.m. there is more than 150 kilometers of traffic jams, with very busy traffic in the Antwerp region. That was heard from the Flemish Traffic Center.

The morning rush hour was very quiet on Friday, but since 10 a.m. the traffic jams has increased sharply. Especially in the Antwerp region it is very busy, with a number of incidents. There are traffic jams on the E19, A12 and E313 towards Antwerp.

An accident happened at the intersection of the E313 and A13 at Ranst and in the direction of Ranst. The bus strip is also blocked there.

According to Peter Bruyninckx, spokesperson for the Flemish Traffic Center, there is a striking amount of traffic from the Netherlands on its way. Traffic from Breda to Antwerp must take into account at least half an hour of losing time to Antwerp.

Also towards the sea there is busy traffic on Friday afternoon. On the E40 in Drongen, road users must take into account a bottleneck due to narrow strips during work.

The traffic center expects the traffic to increase the next hours.
