London sanctioned a Russian misinformation factory

Britain imposed on Tuesday sanctions on all levels of the Russian media « Social Design Agency », which is behind numerous misinformation campaigns in a series of Western countries.

The agency, sanctioned for the first time back in 2024, is considered the author of campaigns circulated through hundreds of sites that disseminate incorrect information aimed at weakening support for Ukraine and incite protests in European countries.

The measure is part of the wide -ranging new sanctions aimed at the military, energy and financial sector of Russia, accepted in coordination with the EU to enhance pressure on Moscow in order to be negotiated for peace with Ukraine.

The EU is still negotiating on these sanctions developed by the « Coalition of the Wishing », since the coordination procedure is more complicated.

British sanctions include 100 positions in the military, energy and financial sectors, including restrictions on the supply chains of Russian weapons systems, including Ismlin -funded information operations and financial institutions that help Russia avoid sanctions.

Forty -six financial institutions, which London claims to help Russia surround the sanctions, have also been affected, including the St. Petersburg Currency Exchange and the Russian Deposit Guarantee Agency that insures Russian banks.

Another eighteen ships were added to the list of sanctions described as part of the Russian « shady fleet » of ships used to circumvent Western restrictions and maintain Russian exports of crude oil.

Persons related to this fleet were also affected, including a British citizen, whom the government claims to have purchased ships and two Russian captains of shady fleet tankers.

The UK said it also works with international partners to reduce the $ 60 oil ceiling for a barrel, which limits the price Russia can charge for its oil when transported by services such as insurance and delivery from major industrial countries.
