Local residents after shooting and stabbing in Anderlecht: « It is even happening now during the day » (inland)
A person was injured in a shooting for the town hall in Anderlecht on Monday. In another incident in the municipality, someone was also stabbed, the Brussels fire brigade and the mayor of Anderlecht confirm.
« The Brussels fire brigade intervened around 6 pm for a shot wound on the Raadsplein, » says firefighter Walter Derieuw. The victim was hit in the buttock and is not in danger, a judicial source reports to our editors.
Two local residents stated individually to have heard a total of three shots on the spot. « It even happens during the day, when I am working, » a local baker testifies. « Of course I am shocked.
The news was confirmed by the mayor of Anderlecht, Fabrice Cumps. « Shortly after the incident, a slight movement of the crowd on Raadhuisplein arose, but it was quickly under control, » said Melissa Morales Magri, spokesperson for the municipality. « A helicopter is currently flying over the area around Raadhuisplein. »

Also Monday evening around 6 pm a person was stabbed in the Hoedstraat in Anderlecht. For the time being it is not possible to say whether the victim's life is in danger or not.

For the time being, neither the Brussels fire brigade nor the municipality can say whether the two incidents are related. « The security measures have worked to a certain extent, in the sense that the police were on site within two minutes, » says Melissa Morales Magri, spokeswoman for the municipality of Anderlecht. « For the time being, no arrests have been made. »
