Ljubljana should also be the place of the future


At today’s municipal holiday, Ljubljana Castle was particularly solemn, as they remembered the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, which also coincides with the day of Europe. On this occasion, they presented the awards and plaques of the capital and the title of honor citizen and the honorary townspeople of Ljubljana. “I am not a born Ljubljana woman, but everything that happened to me in life was related to Ljubljana. I love this outstanding place, so I’m a Ljubljana woman, « said Milena Zupančič. Former President of the country, dr. Danilo Türk said he sees Ljubljana as a place of great potential for the future, and stressed that new generations should be trusted. « They have a future ahead of them and the potential that has been built so far and is large. »

This year’s recipients of the Ljubljana City Awards are: Institute for Ethnic Studies, Ljubhospic – Hospice Institute Ljubljana, Dr. Miha Kos and Foundation House of Experiments, Mojca Mihelič, Director of the elementary school Danile Kumar and the EN-Knap Institute. The Plaques of the City of Ljubljana received, however, received Gerontological Society of Slovenia, Theater See, dr. Viktor Grilc, pioneer of Slovenian electronic music Miha Kralj, architect and urbanist Karl Pollak, Rescue dog guide and mountain rescuer Dušan Weber and the Rozka Usenik Women’s Choir, KUD Šentvid above Ljubljana.
