The world forgives the 266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church Francis. Hundreds of thousands of people have filled the square in front of St. Peter Cathedral, the streets near the Vatican and the Boulevard all the way to the Sant Angelo Fortress to attend the funeral ceremony and pay tribute to the Pope.

Jorge Bergolio, the first Pope of Latin America and the first Pope Jesuit, ruled the church from March 13, 2013 until his death on April 21, 2025. In his election, he accepted the name of St. Francis of Assisi and dedicated his pontiff to the poor and rejected. More than 130 delegations, 10 monarchs and about 50 state heads are present at the funeral, including US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Kir Starmer and Crown Prince William, French President Emmanuel Macron German Chancellor Olaf Scholz,

Argentineian President Javier Miley, Brazilian head of state, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, representatives of various Christian denominations and many more. Former US President Joe Biden has declared his presence. Ukraine President Volodimir Zelenski also arrived for the funeral.

The Bulgarian delegation was led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov.

After the funeral ceremony, the Pope’s will will be fulfilled to find eternal rest in the Basilica « Santa Maria Maggiore ». His desire is to be buried in a simple wooden ark in the side of the basilica, between the Paulin Chapel and the Chapel « Sforza ». The grave will be near the « Altar of St. Francis ». Above the grave, the Pope wished a slab of Liguri marble with a cross and a single inscription « Francis ».
