Although the second ride should still be held, it is very likely that a small crystal globe in the giant slalom will belong to the Italian woman Federici Brignone. In the first ride, she took second place with 0.45 seconds behind the leading Lara Gut-Behrami (1.04.07). Her only competitor in the trophy fight, Alice Robinsondid not finish her first ride, which caused her emotional reaction.
The New Zealand woman had 20 points advantage over Brignona in the overall standings, but now she could cost her expensive – if the Italian ends within the first 13, she will win the title. In the case of a scoring equalizer (520 points), Brignone would still be a celebrant because of a greater number of victories in this discipline.
The third place after the first ride is Sara Hector (+0.68), while the fourth -ranked Sofia Goggia is already behind 1.51 seconds, which means that other skiers will have to fight for the podium.
The race was also marked by the inconvenient drop in local representative Paule Moltzan. She was left without a stick in the first third of the trail, then hit a protective fence not far from the goal. The attendees were denied when she lost her helmet and gained a blow to the head at the fall, but after a few minutes she stood up, which is a sign that, fortunately, there are no more serious injuries.
