Live is like playing a dice game. Tragicomic journey day away in the Lesson Valmiera Theater / Day

« It accurately describes this work we have done. » The origins can be found many years ago when Aigars Apinis read the Book of Finnish writer Miko Rimminen Beer’s novel. « Ten years ago, I had already thought about the movement. When I was given the opportunity to produce something at the Valmiera Theater, I immediately remembered this novel. »

The story is about three friends living in the Helsinki Workers’ District in Kallio. Bohemian district is also known from Mika Kaurismeki films. The Valmiera Theater Actor Ensemble went on this spring to explore the city, collect the necessary properties, filmed and photographed publicity materials and inspiration for the show. There is almost nothing to the troika troika – bacon, henninen and Marshal – and almost nothing is needed. But they « own » their own area of the city – just over a square kilometer – and they are each other.

A. Apinis absolutely disagrees with the view that they would be negative images, though one of the characteristics says they are « a » sneaky bottle brothers, rude idlers « . « Romantic philosophers, subtle, sensitive souls, fools or wise – depends on how the city sees them because they do not give a clear answer, » the director says. « The book, of course, is different from the show. In my opinion, these three people who may seem sad to others, show perfectly what a person is, how to treat other people, things, nature, the environment. Showing a beautiful, well -known career person who is in order is easy and wonderful. The characters show it because they can live, « says A. Apinis.

Philosophizing and conversations are complemented by movement in the show. Equally important is music and poetry. The director first names Mama Greenberg’s wonderful translation of the novel. The dramatization was created by Ance Muižniece, and composer Janis Schipkevich was offered to create music. It happened that he had a Master’s concert in Helsinki on the day of the premiere. « That’s why we started working in time – last summer. Poetry author Mart Puyat wrote a poem out of 35 sentences. So, when my poet and composer folded together, the songs were made, » says the director. « It’s like a dice game, and one of the three characters in the show is very important because there are clear rules, a clear success factor. »

Premiere in the New Hall of the Valmiera Theater – May 30th.
