Live here is what kind of agreement Trump wants with Ukraine. Green angry: ‘They are constantly changing the conditions!’
Administration of US President Donald Trump wants new conditions for American approach to key Ukrainian minerals and energy resources, but does not offer any security guarantees to Kiev, writes Financial Times (FT).
According to the draft of the agreement provided by the Ukrainian side, and in which the FT had insight, the United States requires the establishment of the Supervisory Board that would operate the joint investment fund for the Ukrainian oil, gas and mineral exploitation projects. Revenue generated through these projects would be divided between Ukraine and the US.
However, the proposal provides that Washington would appoint three of a total of five committees, which would acquire the US side the right of veto to all fund decisions. This aspect of the Agreement could significantly limit Ukrainian control over their own resources and their exploitation.
One of the key prop The draft also predicts that the Fund would also apply to projects implemented by the Ukrainian government itself, which further expands the influence of US investors on the Ukrainian energy sector.
Unlike the earlier proposal of Donald Trump, in which the former president suggested that the US receives a stake in Ukrainian nuclear infrastructure, this draft does not include such a clause. This earlier proposal caused considerable controversy.
Trump believes that this agreement would be a fair way for the United States to return the money that Ukraine has given to Ukraine through military and financial assistance.
Recall that in February, Ukraine and the US have already reached an agreement on cooperation in the area of key minerals. Last month, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zeleni traveled to the United States to sign the agreement, but the meeting was interrupted after Trump and Green had a fight. The conflict resulted in the fact that the agreement was not signed, and Green left Washington.
Green stated that the US « constantly changing the terms » of mineral agreement.
