Lithuania can count on Germany / day

« Dear Lithuanians, dear Lithuanians, you can count on Germany, » Mercs told a joint press conference with Lithuanian President Gitan Naused.

He stressed that Germany, together with its partners, was strongly committed to defending NATO’s territory against any aggression.

« The security of our Allied Baltic States is also our security, and we strongly support our Baltic partners, » said German Chancellor.

According to him, Lithuania and Germany are linked to a close partnership, but this cross -border trust has historically been self -evident.

« The confidence we show to each other today, looking back at history, cannot be taken for granted. Today we are drawn the right conclusions about the dark side of our history, and in recent decades we have drawn the right conclusions not only in words but also in deeds. Today we are allies in the North Atlantic Alliance and one of the European family. »

The Chancellor emphasized that the aggressive Russian revisionism threatens not only the territorial unity of Ukraine, but also the overall security in Europe and the Europe, so Germany and its allies have decided to strengthen the NATO eastern flank.

« We place a whole brigade in Lithuania for this purpose. Together with Lithuania, we have created all the conditions at a record pace, and I would like to thank everyone who has made their contribution.

Later, Mercs, along with Nausada Vilnius Cathedral Square, will attend the Bundesweight 45th Brigade « Lithuania » at the inauguration ceremony.

It has already been reported that Germany is committed to deploying the Army Brigade in Lithuania by the end of 2027, which will have about 5,000 soldiers. The original headquarters, which is responsible for moving the brigade to Lithuania’s planning, arrived in Vilnius in April 2024. The number of brigade military personnel is expected to reach 500 by the end of this year.
