Wild nature next to the metropolis
Nairobi National Park is home for many wild animals, including lions and cheetahs. Although the area is secured with a fence, its southern part remains open, which allows animal migration. The conflicts between wild nature and people in Kenya are not uncommon.
The Kenyan Nature Conservation Service also informs about the recent elephant attack, which ended with the death of a 54-year-old man. The tragic incident happened in the central part of the country, in the MERE forest. The victim suffered serious injuries. The wounds turned out to be fatal.
Appeal to increase precautions
Paul Kahumbu, head of the Wildlifedirect nature protection group, emphasizes that such events are not isolated and calls KWS to increase security measures. He recommends that the areas near wild animal habitats are equipped with appropriate predators, such as lighting or alarms,. – Prevention is our first and best defense line – sums up Kahumbu.
