The 41-year-old Genk drug lord Mounir « Mou » Namoussi, together with two other suspects in Colombia, was arrested in a study of international cocaine traphics. The arrest could be carried out thanks to a collaboration between the Colombian National Police and the Belgian and British authorities. The Genkenaar was swapped in the buoys during a police raid in the city of Baranquilla.

According to the researchers, Genkenaar « Mou » is the most important connecting person for the Balkan cartel in Latin America with linking to the Colombian criminal organization « Clan del Golfo ». Research showed that the Genkenaar and his henchmen used magnetic metal boxes to smuggle between 270 and 300 kilos of cocaine every week by attaching the boxes to cargo ships.
The drugs were recovered before the ships reached the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. Belgium will probably ask for the extradition of the 41-year-old Genkenaar. In 2021, the Genkenaar in Tongeren was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 40,000 euros for arranging cocaine transports between Colombia and the port of Rotterdam. At the time, the court ordered its immediate arrest. Mounir grew up in Genk, but moved to Maastricht, where he gradually grew into a drug criminal. (BLG)
