In Stene, the lifeless body of a Peter Pollentier (65) was found in a ditch on Sunday morning. The sixties was without a trace since Thursday evening after a restaurant visit on the Visserskaai in Ostend. The West-Flemish public prosecutor says that, according to the first findings, no traces of violence were found by third parties.

A casual passer-by remarked the lifeless body of a man in a canal behind the Sint-Andreas Institute in Ostend around 9.45 am in the gardens of Stene around 9.45 am. The police and fire brigade arrived and also the West-Flemish public prosecutor's office in Bruges was informed. After a law doctor and the lab arrived on the spot, it turned out to be the missing 65-year-old Oostendenaar.

Missing

The sixties had disappeared without a trace since Thursday evening. The federal police therefore spread an investigation message. He was last seen that evening around 11 pm on a restaurant on the Visserskaai. The bicycle of the victim was found in the following days in the Boogschuttersstraat, close to the Rondpunt to Frère-Orbanstraat in Ostend. A few hours later, on Sunday morning, the lifeless body of the man was eventually found in the gardens of Stene, a nature reserve.

According to the first findings, no traces of violence were found by third parties and therefore there would be no evil intent. (CCA)
