Liesbeth van Impe becomes general editor -in -chief of Nieuwsblad and Gazet van Antwerpen
Liesbeth van Impe becomes a general editor -in -chief of both Nieuwsblad/De Gentenaar and Gazet van Antwerpen. Publisher Mediahuis reports this on Wednesday. « With this appointment, both news brands join forces under one strategic leadership and one joint editorial effect, » it sounds.
Van Impe will combine her role of general editor -in -chief – where she sets out the strategic course of both titles with the Focus on even more collaboration – with her current position as editor -in -chief of the newspaper Nieuwsblad. Gazet van Antwerpen sees his current editor -in -chief Frederik De Swaef leaving and will get a new editor -in -chief, says Mediahuis. The staff was informed on Wednesday through a special works council.
An Steylemans, communication manager at Mediahuis, stresses that Gazet van Antwerpen and Nieuwsblad remain two separate titles, with its own DNA. « There was rumor that Gazet would disappear from Antwerp, but that is a strong brand and therefore will certainly exist. Both newspapers have their own editors, although there is more cooperation with the intention of bringing more efficient and faster news. »
It is not yet clear whether firms will fall on the editors as a result of this reorganization, says Steylemans. « Van Impe will look at that the next four to five weeks together with the Nieuwschefs ».
