Liepaja 2027 and the French Institute in Latvia sign a Memorandum of Cooperation / Day
The signed protocol provides for close and versatile cultural cooperation with the aim of strengthening both the creative industries and the professional capacity of educational organizations. Particular attention will be paid to professional and specialist exchange programs, as well as the development of interdisciplinary activities, especially in areas such as digitalisation, accessibility of the creative industry and culture. This cooperation will also promote socio -economic growth by strengthening the image of Liepaja as a creative and internationally open city.

This partnership also has historical roots – already in the 17th century there were active trade communications between Kurzeme ports and France, while in the 19th and 20th century Kurzeme and Liepaja repeatedly became an important point in the diplomatic and military presence of France in the Baltics. Significant personalities – diplomat and public worker, daughter of the Duke of Courland, Dorothea de Dino, as well as diplomat and former Minister of the Interior Michael Walter have left lasting traces in the history of relations between the two countries.
This cultural and historical interaction forms a strong foundation for the new strategic cooperation between Liepaja, Kuldiga and South Kurzeme regions with the French Institute in Latvia Liepaja 2027 within the framework.
