Letter to the editor. Worst crisis during the crazy 20th century is that the wise is silent

Born in 1969 I got just before my 50th birthday received a gift I will never forget: Covid-19.

And the presents did not end. No, they replaced each other, slipped together as if David Guetta himself stood in the DJ booth and mixed crises with seamless transitions.

When Russia entered Ukraine, well then we had already forgotten Covid – that two -year -old song we hummed in Lockdown And hand spirit. It was just toned out. Tone to war.

Then came Bonus remix: Global inflation, interest rates that rushed and energy crisis. And just when you saw a low light in the tunnel – then the DJ started screwing up the next song: « Let’s make America Great again. »

This song has texts so bizarre that no one would call it a summer hit, but still we are forced to listen – over and over again. And now I’m sitting here, almost 56 years, wondering how we came here.

Who gave the DJ access to the world’s mixer table? And how in the whole peace did we get stuck on the dance floor?

There is something absurd In how the world is controlled right now. I grew up in the belief that politicians were adults. Responsible. Foresight.

You know, those who plan. Who think about consequences. Who understands that decisions today are shaping life tomorrow.

It seems increasingly clear that our elected leaders handle their mandates as if they were participants in an overdraft competition game, where the efforts are enormous, but the understanding of the game’s rules is sadly low.

Decisions are made On feeling, press conferences are held with conviction – but no one seems to have read the manual for reality.

Take EU electric car venture: « Everyone should run electricity 2030! » Beautiful, grand and future -oriented.

But the electricity grid does not hold. The batteries are not enough. The industry trembles.

And now we sit There, in the middle of a changeover chaos, and pretend it is temporary. It is not temporary. It’s foolish.

It is Titanic, but with eco -labeled lifeboats and no one who controls.

At the same time raises the US tariffs Against all other countries. It is said to be to protect American jobs. It’s like breaking the kitchen with a sledgehammer to avoid dishes. Short -term, aggressive symbolic policy – without anchoring reality. But it sounds actionable, and that’s all that is required today.

And here sits I. Just a simple entrepreneur in Sweden.

Someone who plans ten years ahead, not because it is fun – but for my employees, my company and my customers to have a future.

I can’t afford to « act in good faith » or hide behind « we couldn’t predict this. » I have to think longer than for the next quarter.

But the elected people Which we pay to control community building – they don’t even seem to think next Tuesday.

So, yes. I’m cursed. Not because the world is complex. It’s it. But because we pretend it can be solved with slogans, customs and touch sticks.

The world is currently being governed as a group work where the most confident can write the conclusion, the latest writes the source list and no one has opened the document.

And we others? We have to pay the bill. In electricity bills, gasoline prices, instability, fear and unemployment.

The least you can demand from a politician is that it takes responsibility. Not just for today – but for the years coming. Sitting in leadership and « not understanding the consequences » is not apologetic. It is disqualifying.

But it seems Like we lock ourselves in a system where visions are dangerous, impact assessments boring and reality anchoring … yes, almost suspicious.

The clown bus rolls. The DJ has raised the volume. And we are approaching the abyss in four -stroke.

We live in a time when the wise is silent – not for a lack of words, but because the idiot in the room does not feel offended. And that, my friends, is perhaps the biggest crisis of them all.
