Letter to the editor. Work on contract leads to unreasonable wage dumping
In my home municipality, the question of returning the cleaning under municipal auspices has been raised on various occasions. In the local newspaper, the Moderates think that they should let the pros, ie the contractors, take care of the cleaning because it becomes cheaper.
What they really mean is that they want to keep the slave work system introduced in many municipalities since the beginning of the 2000s. By this I mean the extreme increase in the workload that could be carried out by posting the cleaning job at large entrepreneurial chains, with the support of the boundless competition for the jobs introduced through EU membership and through other labor imports.
The value of the work has dropped significantly through the hidden wage dumping. Between 2004 and 2007 I had a cleaning job in the neighboring municipalities and still with completely normal working conditions. I cleaned a three -storey stairwell for 30 minutes paid working hours. Although I worked part -time 60 percent with normal work rate, I began to feel pain from neck and shoulders.
Today pays Employer pay for up to five minutes of cleaning of a three -storey stairwell in my home municipality, which means one -sixth in workers’ salary for a specific work against what was normal in the past. Thus, all limits have been crossed for what should be possible in the deterioration of the work environment and the increase in the workload.
When considering today’s work situation, one cannot believe that there has ever been a labor movement with safety ombudsman or a work environment inspection in this country. How fast shouldn’t a human body be worn out with a workload that can be up to six times higher, to hide the low salary?
It is no wonder that more people get sick from stress and that it crawls down the ages. Imagine as many unemployed people who could be employed with a restoration to normal working conditions with normal salary!
