Letter to the editor. The stars from the suburb must stand for their origin

It is often talked about that Järva/Hagalund is a « exposed area ». I see something else. I see the stars of the future: children and young people who train every night in Tensta, Rinkeby, Hagalund and Järfälla – in rain, snow and cold, driven by dreams.

Several of Sweden’s greatest talents come from here. Martin Kayongo-Mutumba, Robin Quaison, Taha Abdi Ali, Bilal Hussein, Jonah Kusi-Asare and Alexander Isak are from Hagalund. All these players thus have their roots in the suburb. But when they reach the elite level, they are often lifted as products by major clubs such as AIK or BP. The resort is blurred out of the story.

It’s time to tell the truth: Sweden’s best football talents come from the resort.

We need That these players themselves say so. Not to create contradictions – but to create hope. Young people have to feel: « He is from the same place as me. I can too. » When their background is invisible, a piece of the city’s self -confidence is stolen.

Football is more than sports. It is identity, direction and future. But only if you get to feel seen – all the way.

We in the resort are not a problem. We are the solution – and the foundation of the future of Swedish football.
