Letter to the editor. Stop the government’s plans to change student health
The government’s plans On lifting from special education skills from student health is one of the most crazy proposals in a long time.
Mental illness among young people comes new alarm reports in a steady stream and the school is responsible for a great responsibility. The requirements are high and the school environment is often not optimal.
The government’s proposal to cure this is to highlight special educators and special teachers from the student health team. We who work in school know what is needed. There are smaller classes and more adults who can see, encourage and support the students.
To remove special educator And special teachers are to remove the student’s voice from student health. We work closely with them and start from a preventive and promotion approach.
If the government gets what it wants, the ill health among children and young people to increase and student health work action as a healthcare facility. That’s not what the school needs!
We need more cross -professional work between different functions in the student health team. Logopeds, physio and occupational therapists and more special educational skills are needed to prevent the stress school gives students.
