Letter to the editor. Noted by DN’s readers on May 9

It should be clear after the new security adviser’s assortment. It is the government itself that is a security risk for Sweden!

Do not praise day until sun has gone down. In the morning of May 8 explains The head of the Government Offices, Ulf Kristersson, that « Tobias Thyberg has unique knowledge and qualifications to… assist me as prime minister on security policy issues and represent Sweden in the international network of security advisers ». Thyberg would thus succeed Kristersson’s friend, the forgetful Henrik Landerholm. Before the sun has settled, however, Kristersson’s State Secretary Johan Stuart, who succeeded PM Nilsson after the latter, was explained by having a thief fishing eel and on two occasions lied to the police, that the police, that « Thyberg failed to provide information he should have provided ». Or rather, the government office forgot to ask about the controversial image that it took DN less than three quarters to pick up on social media. Within a day, the new security adviser had resigned. We have a pie -like government office whose chief manager, the country’s prime minister, makes our country a matter of the whole world. If there is someone who is not trousing for their office then it is Ulf Kristersson.

I remember how the press was horrified at Kindberg Batra’s recruitment to work in her ministry. Scandal! Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson makes her resemble totally innocent. What is wrong with his acquaintances? Does he become now without Security advisor? A service he, the prime minister, thought was important to have. Finding a person without a skeleton in the wardrobe seems difficult. Maybe it’s time to look outside the acquaintance circle? Recruit someone who is without flaws seems difficult. Maybe it’s just as good to put the plans on ice for a while? The government has not had the service before and did well without!

Although the company Think Pink for several years dumped environmentally hazardous waste in Swedish nature, SVT failed to ask the most basic and important questions in his reporting. The company buried construction and demolition waste in over 20 locations in central Sweden, often near residential areas. Residents alerted about the dumps, but it was a long time before the authorities acted. SVT’s review highlighted the serious environmental consequences and the legal process, but the issues that should have been at the center of the review failed. Why did the dumps last for so long? Why didn’t the authorities take action before? And why did not question the media like SVT why nothing was done despite testimonies and notifications? When the media does not ask these uncomfortable questions, they risk merely reproducing superficial facts, without examining the underlying causes of social scandals. In the case of Think Pink, it would have been crucial to get to the bottom of why so many responsible people could be passive for several years. It is not only a matter of environmental crime, but also about the responsibility of journalism to review power in depth.

In the name of justice, the method should also apply to the schools’ employees, the municipality’s employees, the municipal politicians, all the members of the Riksdag, the government’s office, the entire Armed Forces, and the royal house.

Opinions about DN

I almost agree with Alex Schulman in His chronicle About Finns’ alleged happiness. I myself come from Finland. The last hope of Finns’ happiness disappeared when the pension recently disappeared without explanation. Finns living in other EU countries no longer receive a national pension from their home country. Why should you have more money if you are so happy?

Reply to Rolf Hermanson (Noted on May 8): I do not share your view that DN is a left organ. I think DN looks at the world and society with objective view. There is rice and rose both right and left, which feels credible. I have other experiences locally where the dominant morning newspaper which is liberal almost always has colored glasses, which is both tiring and distorted. I really appreciate DN’s broadness.
