Letter to the editor. Noted by DN’s readers on May 14

Unfortunately, the resistance and silence of large -scale human suffering is since the Second World War a tradition in Swedish politics. Swedish newspapers that dared to speak clear language about and criticize Nazi Germany was punished with transport ban and even prison sentences for individual journalists. Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) unfortunately continues this tradition. Admittedly, the Foreign Minister speaks of a humanitarian disaster in Gaza, but without demanding co -responsibility of Israel. Hama’s obvious guilt seems easier to pronounce. Israel’s possible debt should be decided by international courts, it is claimed. We should be grateful that the countries that took up the fight against Nazi Germany did not passively refer to courts!
Helmi Franklin

When genocide has happened in the past, it was called « We did not know what was going on ». Today we cannot blame that we do not know what is happening in Gaza. The countries that contribute weapons to kill civilians and destroy the cities in Gaza are complicit. The outside world has not done what it could to stop the genocide. The Swedish Foreign Minister condemns war crimes that happens in Ukraine, but not in Gaza. A shame’s silence is spreading in Europe.
Gunnar Carlsson, Uppsala

Israel now declares that one should go into Gaza « with full force ». A gaza that is largely already leveled with the ground. Tens of thousands of dead, countless injured and traumatized for life. Can’t you stop this!? Why does the « Peace Project » EU do nothing? Can’t Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at least be cursed and shudder? It feels completely hopeless that Israel’s terror and murder may only continue. The dehumanization of the Palestinians has led to all boundaries for a long time. Stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza!
Börje Ståhl, Stockholm

A new Israeli ground invasion of Gaza prepared – But the disaster is already underway. Thousands of children starve. Hospital lacks electricity. Civilian bomb. Whole families are expelled from their homes. Palestinians must be forced to forced to other countries. And yet – our government and the EU are silent. I am desperate. I’m cursed. How can we, in a Europe that claims to safeguard human rights, look at without acting? What kind of society are we if we do not react when children die from hunger, when people ask for help – but are met with silence? This is no longer a future threat. It is happening now – in front of our eyes. Every hour of passivity is a betrayal. Being silent is not to be neutral. It is to disappoint. Sweden and the EU must act – if not for the sake of politics, so for humanity. For the kids in Gaza. For what remains of our morals.
Juan Fonseca, former MP for the Social Democrats

Our government must immediately demand from Israel: stop bombing Gaza! Open the boundaries! Now!
Mats Hultman, Frösön

Thanks, DN, for the article In Wednesday’s newspaper about the starving 12-year-old Rahaf Ayad in Gaza! Finally, a true picture of the reality of the civilian population is shown. Now just waiting for the outside world to react with sharpness to the Israeli government’s actions and not just pronounce lame condemnations.
Ann-Britt Wrenner, Finspång

If Max Hüttner Saw DN’s front page today should be able to understand why the protests against Israel hail, while Hamas ended up in the media shadow. It’s been a long time since you read the phrase « Israel has the right to defend itself. » The reason, of course, is that it has been a long time since Israel’s progress in Gaza could be described as a defense war.
Anders Nordlund, Uppsala

DN reports from Gazaso many dead, so many on the run, so many hospitals bombed, so little food, about alarms from humanitarian organizations and human rights organizations, about investigations of war crimes and planned forced movements. A lineup of facts that eventually only become as emotional as the IPO. Is it cynicism that the leadership side does not in any way react to the suffering that the magazine reports on? I think nothing hurts Israel’s thing as when a friend closes or looks away.
Kenneth Malmsborg

The following quotes from SVT Morning StudioS news elements and interviews today lightning illuminates why the wars are only going on and is going on in Gaza and Ukraine:
« We do not end the war under any circumstances, » Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarifies his intentions.
« The reason for it must be going on is that no one has stopped it, » says Pål Wrange, professor of international law about the war going on in Gaza.
And Johan Norberg, security policy analyst at the Swedish Defense Research Institute FOI, speaks clear text about what is going on in Ukraine: « If Russia ends war, the war ends. If Ukraine ends war, it ends in Ukraine, and that is actually a big difference »
How is it possible that these and other wars that are going on around the world may only continue? One insightful and knowledgeable analyst after another gives us powerless grass roots the answer to these questions in the TV box and in the daily press by speaking clear text as in the quotes above. Why not listeners who have the opportunity to intervene, in the different ways that these experts suggest could stop the wars? How difficult can it be? Is it the money that controls? Or fears? Own selfish agendas? After all, we all sit in the same boat on our globe. It would be interesting to get an in -depth analysis of the psychological factors that create this paralysis in those who have the opportunities in their hand.
Solveig Rosenlind, Bromma

Read a submitter by an ST physician who defended the PETH samples of concern for other road users. Instead, this consideration should be expanded to the Riksdag, the government, the police and the healthcare professionals, who are also there to safeguard us citizens and our well -being. There are probably many with elevated values that would get rid of their jobs.
Göran Karlström

Regarding the PETH tests: Consuming someone over 21 standard glass alcohol a week, the driver’s license should be recalled. There are young children in traffic, fellow road users. Those who drink at least 21 standard glass of wine a week are probably never at the full use of their minds – either affected or in a phase of alcohol burning. Then it is just right and revoke the driver’s license until an improvement occurs. Then let me pay the responsibility to the authorities to offer help and support not just recall a driver’s license but alternatives.

It is excellent to DN reviews the actions of the forest companies and how the Forest Board’s 800 employees Manages his supervisory assignment. More recently, the harvesting of old forests has been noticed, and it is obvious that a country also needs to preserve untouched nature. If there is somewhere in the world there is unused land, it is in a large and sparsely populated country like Sweden. However, the biggest problem with Swedish forest policy is not that old trees are harvested, but too young trees are harvested. When old forest is still taken down, the focus should be on how the wood is actually used. The regulations for forest management – including thinning, twig and regulations on age and dimension on final harvest – must be tightened. In addition, clear incentives should be created for increased deciduous trees in southern Sweden. The climate, growing season and soil fertility in this region are comparable to Poland, the Baltic States and Ukraine – countries where Sweden today buys its hardwood. At the same time, conifers do not have its natural plant site in southern Sweden. A sustainable and site -adapted forest policy is crucial for both biodiversity and for future timber supply.
Rickard Nordström, Högsjö

The media surveillance of Swedish forest management suffers from unclear language. If DN and other media separated plantations and forests, it would be clearer to the public how little forest remains and how many plantation owners we have. The industry utilizes the conceptual confusion in campaigns and talks about forest but shows us beautiful images instead of the real spruce plants and calfs.
Per Wihl, Johanneshov

The parties, especially the Moderates and the Social Democrats, compete with each other to expel more and point out economic criminals. It sounds trustworthy. But what is the basic problem? Well, that ordinary Swedish honest citizens buy drugs, weapons, theft and other health. Stop favoring financial crime and criminals!
Gunnar Andrén, former MP for the People’s Party/Liberals, Stocksund

It was once a party leader who wanted to be called « the guy at the grill ». The reason he wanted the nickname is unclear, but since the picture has now cleared, especially now that he has left his assignment as party leader. Everything is about shifting focus from reality. He was party leader for a party that calls himself the Liberals, but which is no longer because it is now enforcing another party’s agenda (which is otherwise the largest party in the government base). This party is illiberal and hate liberals and explicitly wants to fight what is defined as a liberal democracy. Although a number of people in this country repeatedly tried to explain and learn this man all about liberal ideology and what it means to be liberal, he has not understood anything at all. This is probably the main reason why he wanted to be called the « guy at the grill ». It is easier to live up to something that you might be able to be than to claim to be liberal when you are not. I hope that the Liberal Party will leave the Riksdag in the next election. The party has been disintegrating liberalism for a long time now. We remaining liberals now need to get existential rest.

A well -known ancient telephone company invoices me and announces the following on the invoice: « Hello! Here comes your invoice. » How can their invoice be mine? When my company sends its invoice, we call it as « our invoice », because it is we who exhibit it and own it. If I invoice as an individual person, I call the invoice as « mine ». How should I call « their » invoice if I do not pay it and end up in a trial? The invoice has changed owners and become mine, with their eyes seen and named as « yours ». I can’t pay an invoice called « yours » by someone else and in that case is « mine ». Should I pay for myself? Will my refusal pay an invoice to hold legally, with reference to, in my opinion, incorrectly directed term? So here I would write if I absolutely have to address my invoice with a greeting phrase (I have never done because I think invoices are not correspondence): « Here comes our invoice to you. »

Opinions about DN

Before and during the referendum on nuclear power 23/3 1980, DN was a strong nuclear -critical newspaper. Since then, DN has fluctuated and instead has become strongly nuclear friendly. But lately something has happened! DN has begun to admit researchers who have criticized the intended one -sided subsidy of nuclear power in debate articles and submits. Isn’t it time for DN in the leadership site to take science’s assessment seriously and point out the unreasonable in the bill about a law that benefits nuclear power?
