Letter to the editor. Let the parents sit off penalty for young perpetrators

When I was a kid, we were told that our parents would end up in jail if we did something stupid. Talk about we behaved!

Would it be a good concept that parents of criminal children are in prison? Then they really can’t take care of their children!

No, but is it not now about the parents to mark that they have a 100 percent responsibility and for the children that the parents may take the sentence as long as they themselves are not criminal? The sensitive point of many young people when it comes to honor and violations is precisely the unreasonable parents. Who then wants to incur a prison sentence?

Perhaps one would simply abolish a lower age limit for when you can be convicted of a crime, but then let a parent sit by the punishment if the child is considered too young.

Then both children and parents would realize that someone in the end must take responsibility and the consequences. And the gang leaders would find it harder to convince children to commit crimes with the motivation that they are too young to be punished.
