Letter to the editor. I don’t want to go back to hell in Sweden
Ten years ago I came to Sweden as a 16-year-old from Afghanistan. I learned Swedish, lived a quiet life and followed the law – but I never got a residence permit. Sweden did not see me as a human being, but only as a case number.
In the end, the Migration Court said no to even try my case. All doors were closed.
In March this year I came to France. I thought I would get a chance to start over. But now the French authorities say I belong to Sweden, because of The Dublin Regulation.
How can a country Who refused to give me protection for ten years still have the « responsibility » for me?
I have never received the same opportunities and as support as everyone else from the state. I was never seen. Now I risk being sent back to the silence and to the hopelessness.
I do not want to go back to Sweden, but I want to get a residence permit here in France and not be sent back to hell.
I write this To show what happens to us that fall between the chairs in Europe’s system. I don’t ask for much, just for justice and a chance to live in peace.
Ten years in anticipation
Ten years in the shade, ten years in hope
Ten years where dreams fall, without any stop
I came with the heart open, with the will to be free
But the cold hands of the system said: You don’t hear here, go by
I worked, fought, followed every team
But the right to security, I never got one day
I have never stolen, never beaten
Just hoped, fought and taken
Not a crime, not a lie, just silent patience
But the answers I got were cold as ice without mercy, without courage
How many should fall into this silent game?
How many should be sacrificed in a system that is wrong?
We are people, not paper in an office
We are life, we are hope, we are the hearts that still beats, and still believe
