Letter to the editor. Give amputated the same care no matter where they live

Imagine if you lost a leg in an accident and learned that you could never go up stairs normally – even though the technology exists – just because you live in the wrong region. In Sweden, all people should have fair access to good care, but for amputated depends on the quality of life on where one lives.

Watching when human health and well -being prioritized is heartbreaking. In some regions, amputated access to advanced technology, which enables an active life, is given, while others have to settle for simple prostheses that make everyday life difficult. The care is not based on individual needs, but on region and financial conditions.

It is unreasonable that the technology exists, but that access to it is distributed depending on the region. We must demand that all amputates receive the same care regardless of where they reside in Sweden. This inequality is not only unfair, but means further obstacles to people who have already undergone major life changes.

Human value cannot measured in postal code or financial conditions. Healthcare is a human right that applies to everyone.

It is required that politicians and decision makers take responsibility and act. We must create fair and equal care for amputated, regardless of where in the country you live.
