Letter to the editor. Build up a European NATO without the United States

It is high time to call the US role in NATO. Europe must not be misled by US words that « we are behind NATO ». The fact that these words are doubtful is shown by statements about the takeover of Canada and Greenland with military power.

A European NATO can protect the Arctic, the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, the European countries and the Mediterranean. Furthermore, Ukraine can be included in such a NATO. If Canada is interested, the country can be offered membership. Of course, Europe can also cooperate with the United States, if there is interest on their part.

A basic requirement for entry and continued membership in « European NATO » should be that democratic values ​​are implemented and followed continuously.

First step May be the summit in June. Then the contribution to NATO must be increased.

If the United States cannot then clearly support NATO with Article 5 completely and renounce all claims to Allied territories, the crack is a fact. Then a structure must be made of the abilities that Europe lacks.

Furthermore, Greece’s defense must be strengthened properly – the country may be the last outpost to the east.
