Letter to the editor. Boycott the peas this year

These days, the dairy industry’s annual PR jippo « Kosläppet » starts. The event has become popular, not least among families with children. Thousands of visitors get to see running and bumpy cows that are released on pasture. A day of joy, because we want the animals to be happy?

But there is a back side. The rest of the year is staying indoors. All cows, such as meat animals and young animals, must not come out today either. The cows’ opportunities for natural behavior are severely limited indoors, even in a loose -operating system.

At the cousin, we also see no calves. In order for cows to produce milk, they must feed calves, but instead of being with their mother, they are separated, usually within a day from birth.

● Choose cow’s milk! There are good plant alternatives such as oat milk.

● If you want to use milk products, choose organic milk where the cows are allowed to graze.
