Agutin is not the artist who could continue to live and write as if nothing had changed around. Therefore, the very first songs of the album-“Say at least something” and “everything is not in vain”-were imbued with a sharp sense of sadness and the inability to return everything. In general, “everything is not in vain” was an album of a life-loving and complete copyright searches, it found a place for blues, Indian and Middle Eastern motives, and Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, not to mention the branded Latin-Yiba. “Everything is not in vain” is a massive work that moved the Agutinsky myth forward.

« N.V.L. » (“Hope, Vera and Love”) – an album about which Leonid Agutin gave a lot of comments, but did not say the main thing. The fact is that the leader of the writer workshop of his generation, it turns out, can also write at the level of his colleagues, who do not steam at all on the topic of innovation or non -banal harmonic moves. That is, he could well say: “If you were interested in whether I can use an ordinary pop album, then yes. I can be ordinary. « 

Not that Leonid Agutin cost N.V.L. Without Latin American influences, not at all. His group has mastered all the shades of Latino so flawlessly that it can maintain this regime as if on a machine gun.

Perhaps this is a plus and minus of today’s period in Agutin’s work. “The album was born somehow easily, organically-just appeared, and that’s it,” the musician wrote in social networks. And indeed, songs as if appeared by themselves.

The song “Let’s go home”-the Brazilian-carnival music and the text that appears, in which the “river”, “meadow”, “carved fence”-that which there was no “barefoot boy” had not appeared before. A sort of Central Russian Movida. The track for the Agutin catalog is quite refreshing, but in general, his album rolls towards the realities of a banal stage. There is no new portion of testosterone Latino and affordable jazz-rok, in which the author is strong like no one.

Two songs in the album « N.V. », Actually « N.V.L. » And “gently” are written for the series, and the series themselves are not so much events, that is, these are quite ordinary pop-senes with a given mood. The ballad “gently” is a confident Agutinsky standard, even in isolation from video content, for which it is composed, and still does not let go of the feeling that the muse at the time of its creation has been distracted by someone else.

The real muse of Leonid Agutin Angelica Varum sings in their next duet – « I’m not the same. » The theme of the song is a breakup, and probably one of the listeners is still seriously worried about the topic of the reliability of the marital union of two artists. However, there is a more serious problem: it is very inferior to other duets Agutin and Varum, and first of all, the grandiose « I will always be with you. » There is a feeling that the author could spend a little more time to create a new composition, find a little less banal colors.

The song “Olya” is placed on I, telling about the meeting of the hero with a classmate, who, of course, is “all the same”.

This is not the first Agutin song in the Chanson genre, he even has awards from the corresponding radio station. However, it is always very important that the listener, who has never met the songs of any performer before, be able to get an idea of ​​his music literally according to the first, accidental composition and wanted to go further. “Olya” is a song that gives a completely misunderstanding what Leonid Agutin is. Everything in it is Anti-Agutin, from the rhyme “the years flashed-beautiful, as then” to the fresh, empty in the melodic sense of the chorus. Agutin always knew how to embed banal lines in witty arrangements, but this time the result is regrettable. And somehow I do not want to admire the purely poetic, melodiclaam tracks that Agutin placed in the deluxe version of the album. He is not a great poet and not a great reader, he is a master of song, no more and no less.

The best song of the album does not have the most catchy name “Lullaby” and is placed at the very end. Here in her Leonid Agutin returns to himself. “Everyone is dying, but I want to, you know, to live” – a blues with a beautiful solo on a pipe and a proprietary scatter of a singer. Like Leonid Agutin was taken hostage, but at the end of the album he blinked to us.
