It became clear when Lene Beier and the TV 2 team behind « We are drowning in root“Entered into the home of Kenneth and Karina Bak.
The family living with the daughters Ida at 14 and Aya at six had for a long time struggled to get an overview of the many belongings that had accumulated.
And it wasn’t just junk – it was childhood, memories, toys and a sea of suckers. But also a barrier between parents and children.

Especially the oldest daughter, Ida, was marked by it. She had had enough and had a room with her grandmother where she could find peace from the chaos at home. A home she increasingly avoided.
The TV team met a home that almost exploded by things. Karina, who is studying for an educator, had, among other things, gathered on baby equipment as a hobby – and that made her mark: 1443 pacifiers and 251 baby bottles filled the boxes. And that was just the beginning.
During the recordings, the clean -up in 176 culminated moving boxes. It even shocked the experienced TV team.
« What is the wild and that we have never ever tried before is that more than half of what lies in here is toys, » noted a speechless Lene Beier as she looked out over the packed storage room.
The kitchen also hid its own surprises.
« Mild sailor! I have never seen so many children’s plates in my entire life. What do they do with all of them, » exclaimed Lene Beier in front of the abounding kitchen cabinets.
But the clean -up had a redeeming effect. After a huge makeover and sorting, the home was transformed. Daughter Ida got her wish fulfilled: A tidy home she could endure to be in. And for the family it became a symbolic new chapter – with fewer things, more space and a more safe everyday life.
