Night from Thursday to Friday, May 15 to 16, in Legnica (Dolnośląskie Voivodeship). The city monitoring operator noticed a suspicious man. He was spinning around ul. Chojnowska, next to the parked tow truck. At one point he forced the vehicle’s door and broke inside. Everything was recorded by cameras.
Legnica. Burglary into the tow truck
A burglary reported to the duty officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. Patrol arrived quickly.
The police noticed a man in the vehicle lying in the passenger seat trying to hide from officers. At the time when one of the policemen approached the vehicle, the man suddenly opened the door and tried to escape, but he was quickly overpowered and stopped thanks to the effective and dynamic intervention of officers
– Jagoda Ekiert from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica said.
The 32-year-old turned out to be detained. During the search, he was found with him, among others Working gloves, mocking car locks, a damaged locking insert and a device for breaking locks.
The owner of the vehicle was summoned in the place, from which further procedural actions were performed. It was established that the perpetrator after prior damage to the lock insert in the driver’s door got inside the vehicle and tried to steal it, but his plan was thwarted by the quick reaction of the service
– explained the officer of the Legnica police.
The detainee was charged with attempted the theft of the vehicle. There is a penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment. The District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica applied a preventive measure in the form of police supervision.
Thanks to the vigilance of the monitoring operator and effective patrol intervention, the perpetrator was caught in the act and the vehicle was not stolen.
