Legislatures 2025. Tik Tok removes more than 275 content and eliminates 45,000 fake accounts
Tiktok implemented a set of measures before the Portuguese legislative elections and removed “more than 275 content pieces” that violated the rules, including misinformation, and more than 45,000 fake accounts.
In anticipation of the Portuguese legislatures of 18 May, the social network reported on Tuesday that it launched the Electoral Center in the application on April 18, « a space designed to connect users with certified information, including official resources from the Electoral Commission, important dates about voting and tips for identifying misinformation. »
“To promote transparency, Tiktok is also labeling election -related research content and research results, directing users directly to the electoral center,” says the platform in a statement.
The work is part of Tiktok’s wider global strategy to promote a safe, informed and authentic expression during the elections.
Thus, between April 14 and 27, Tiktok took several actions in Portugal, including “removed more than 275 pieces of content that violated the policies of civic and electoral integrity, misinformation and content generated by AI (artificial intelligence) – with more than 98% of the contents to be removed before receiving any complaint”.
The note, according to Lusa agency, states that « it has proactively prevented more than 1,400,000 fake tastes and more than 942,000 fake followers, and blocked more than 7,400 spam accounts to be created in Portugal. »
According to the social network, “more than 45,000 fake accounts, more than 390,000 fake tastes and 26,000 fake followers” and “Specialized Tiktok teams continue to combat foreign interference and concealed influence operations, and so far have not discovered or dismantled any influence of this genre specifically aimed at Portuguese elections”.
Tiktok has launched a global Hub of Electoral Integrity, « providing reliable data on election -related enforcement efforts in various countries. »
