Leave the viper in peace
Tip from a specialist. What do we do if we meet a viper. The time of the roads and announcements like: « Tourists on vacation in the mountains must be very attentive to the vipers during this period » in this period.
Explanations of salvamontists are welcome. They recommend to those who go on hiking to be properly equipped and call the unique emergency number 112 if they are bitten by such a reptile. The Salvamont Hunedoara County Public Service recommends to tourists « that during trips or hiking, they are trying to avoid areas with high herbs and unexplored areas. It is important to respect the marked routes, to remain on the beaten paths. If, however, I meet a snake is important to leave it in peace. Parasiers, to protect their feet from any bites. ”
But do not panic, the vipers do not attack.
Conf. Dr. Tiberiu (Tibor) R. Hartel (photo), ecologist interested in the social and ecological dimensions of global changes and sustainability. From Babeș -Bolyai University -The Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering in Cluj Napoca, wrote on its Metta page:
« The vipers do not attack. I speak seriously. They are so cautious, that even when they are attacked by us, with the intention of capturing them, they do not bite from the first. I hit (with the muzzle, without biting), try to remove us by intimidation. And it only bites when we leave no other option.
The viper does not attack the man. So, if we sit on a hub on the edge of Făget Forest, we eat something or we simply rest, and the viper is through the nearby groves – it will not come to bite us. Will not attack us.
With Matyi I saw a viper in Făget. We go on the field with boots. The viper feels the vibrations of the steps and usually leaves long before you see it. If it is more curious (or blogging), it may wait until we see us – or until we see it.
What is to be done?
1. Viper does not attack. OK?
2. If it passes through our face – we do not catch it, we do not irritate it with the stick. It is an extraordinary being. Children like-if the adults they are with do not lose their heads. Peak: the child, if he is calmly supported, has the emotional stability to see a viper. It depends on the adult.
3. If we see it, we simply observe it quietly. He will not follow us, he will not jump on us, he will do nothing that justify that primitive fear, learned from the movies.
4. And if we meet her by mistake, close? We retire easily. She will look for a safe place immediately. Just like us.
5. We want to sit on a hub? No problem. We choose an open place, where we can easily check if there is no reptile house. If it is-even a simple lizard-it is best to leave them alone. Nature is fine with quiet places.
6. Let’s stop where it is clear that others have stopped. The path is beaten, the place is frequented – so sure. And for us, and for vipers.
7. Do we have young children with us? We hold them close. Nature is magical, but there is no place of complete unattended. We offer them freedom where there are no visible dangers. And even if it is not a viper – it can be a dead Chitcan, a piece of glass, an irritating plant. Therefore, our gentle, but careful presence is essential.
8. Pipi, coco? Not between the biggest bushes! It can be unpleasant on the axis of scratches, it should not be viper to be an unpleasant place. Or maybe we give another wild animal hidden there. We do home and if we catch (rather pee), we retire after a tree, safe and obviously in discretion.
Nature is beautiful, including vipers. ”
If you want unforgettable and safe hiking, listen to the specialists’ advice, and … treat them as such!
