LDPR aimed in second place in the elections to the State Duma of 2026

LDPR aimed in second place in the elections to the State Duma of 2026

The LDPR officially announced the start of the election campaign in the State Duma of 2026. The party will build a pre-election agenda around the national-patriotic ideology, relying on anti-migrant and demographic themes, as well as on the support of the regions. But on the question of whether the liberal democrats will be able to celebrate the 80th anniversary of their late founder Vladimir Zhirinovsky with the second place in the election-2026, the opinions of experts diverge.

The start of the Duma campaign-2026 in the LDPR was timed to the 79th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Zhirinovsky. About 2 thousand party members and their supporters gathered on April 25 in Moscow at Navka Arena. At the appointed hour, party leaders went to an impromptu rostrum right on the ice, on which later, the still actual hit of the shaman “I was Russian” came from Navka Show.

The fact that Russianness “spite of the whole world” was never shy about the liberal democrats, did not forget to resemble party speakers. “The LDPR opposed those who tried to integrate the country into a historically Western civilization that is alien to us,” Leonid Slutsky’s voice rattled under the arches. “We were the first.”

And the party’s election program was sealed with the National-patriotic thesis: « We will return the greatness to the Russians-we will force Russia to respect. »

However, here the party members did not forget to make a reservation that the Russian, according to the testament of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, is « this is a question of spirit, not blood. » So the idea of the LDPR is not in the replacement of some elected (which ones, not specified) on others, but “in the construction of a healthy public self-awareness, based not on blood, but in the spirit,” the liberal democrats explained.

The programs of the program, as follows from Leonid Slutsky’s speeches, will be migration, demographic and regional topics (the slogan “Russia is more than Moscow”, recall, uses since 2023). Among other priorities are young people and her concerns (the first of them is the “alien Bologna system”), and also, of course, care for the veterans of their own and support the front (partybytles from the hands of the chairman received several seconded to the advanced fighters). Both the young people and participants in their party promises good political prospects – up to places in the Duma lists.

In total, the LDPR intends to put up 500 candidates to the elections-2026 (including 50 from the Youth), Mr. Slutsky told Kommersant, and the party’s goal is the second fraction in the Duma.

For such success, liberal democrats have every reason, their leader is sure: “The growing trust of people, the best youth organization, real things every day. People will make the decision, but the start of the campaign is given, and today I evaluate the chances as very high. ” The structure of the campaign headquarters, added Leonid Slutsky, has already been approved, but the leadership will make specific personnel decisions after a single voting day-2025. The interlocutors of Kommersant in the party do not exclude that at the helm of the headquarters the chairman of the LDPR, according to the already established tradition, will stand up personally.

Earlier, the marginal national-patriotic agenda is more in demand today, political scientist Pavel Sklyanchuk believes: “The rate can play, an attempt to operate once forbidden topics may appeal to society.” The ability to work with this topic is the main hardware achievement of Leonid Slutsky, the political scientist Konstantin Kalachev agrees: “This is a very high degree of trust.” In his opinion, the moderators of domestic policy plan to “canalize” the protest moods of the “angry Russians” just through the LDPR: “These are not nationalists in a radical sense, but a system party, which was given the opportunity to develop the topics raised by Zhirinovsky.” And the deceased founder “works better” than many living leaders, the expert notes with reference to the recent sociological survey InSomar: “77% experience positive feelings for Zhirinovsky and only 8% treat the negatives.”

The Communist Party of the Communist Party from the second place, the liberal democrats, according to polls, have already been dropped, Mr. Kalachev continues: “And if this year the LDPR takes second place (in the regional elections.- « Kommersant »), then it will become a party of the second choice for those who will not go to vote for « United Russia ».  » However, one national-patriotic agenda to win over the eternal rival is not enough, says Pavel Sklynchuk. According to him, the Communists can score glasses due to non -Sovietism, also popular today in the Speech Society. “So two other opposition parliamentary parties can become the injured party in this race,” the political scientist summarizes.
