Lawyer responds after releasing two aldermen from Forza Ninove: « I suppose that Malika Sclacmender will return to work tomorrow » (Ninove)
The East Flemish public prosecutor’s office was informed on election day 13 October 2024 of possible election fraud in the municipal elections in Ninove. It started an investigation.
The research revolves around the use of powers of attorney and possibly forged medical certificates after a report of a supervisory justice of the peace. The public prosecutor seized all the attorney used in the municipal elections in Ninove.
Eight suspects were arrested on Tuesday, all linked to Forza Ninove. Six suspects were released on Tuesday evening after interrogation. The last two suspects, Malika Scclacmender, ships of animal welfare, youth and sport in Ninove and the plus daughter of Mayor Guy D’Haeseleer, and Dany Goessens, ships of digitization, mobility, parking policy and traffic, were released on Wednesday afternoon.
« However, this does not mean that any future criminal prosecution could no longer be established, » said the public prosecutor. According to the public prosecutor, the interrogations revealed new elements. « Based on this, the investigation will be continued in the coming period. The possible criminal responsibility of all involved will be further investigated. »

The public prosecutor does not provide any details about the statements of the suspects. The main suspects and several other suspects keep their innocence standing, as their defense was heard. Guy d’haeseleer also denied on Tuesday again that there would be fraud by himself or his party members. « I maintain that no powers of attorney have been recruited and no powers of attorney have been falsified or copied. »
« I can’t say that much about it. My client was interrogated again today, but she was allowed to go home, » said Filip de Reuse, the lawyer of ships Malika Sclacmender after being defended by another lawyer on Tuesday. « I was consulted today, but my client stayed with her position. She is very formal that she has nothing to do with fraud. That she has done nothing wrong. She says she has always done everything how it should be done. »
His client does not see what she could have done wrong. « She was interrogated about this, but no preliminary life has happened to the investigating judge, and that will not normally come. She has cooperated, » said De Reuse.
« I hope for her that peace will return, because they have been very emotional weeks before her because of the problems with the health of her plus papa. And now this is added again. But I suppose she will go back to work tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. »
« During his interrogation, my client has denied a very formal involvement, » said Laurent Bracke, Dany Goessens’s lawyer. « He is very straight in his shoes and has no knowledge of possible fraud. He stressed that several times during the interrogation. »
« After the interrogation, it seemed clear to us that it would not come to the investigating judge, » says Bracke. « It is therefore surprising that it took so long before he has been released. »
