Brussels

The lawyer Judit Karlsson has action for Doctors Without Borders and Médecins Sans Frontières actions against the famine in Sudan by crossing Brussels on horseback. With her mare Lily she drove through the city to « break the silence about the famine and genocide » in the country. Around 5 p.m. she ended her trip at the Cinquantenaire.

De Ruiter visited several Brussels parks during her first tour through a city. The intention is to repeat the action if necessary in various cities in Belgium and possibly also beyond. « Who knows, » she says.

The situation in Sudan no longer tolerates silence, the rider/lawyer believes. « Yet this crisis is currently in silence. However, it is described by the United Nations as » the most devastating humanitarian crisis in the world. «

Wave of solidarity

According to Karlsson, it threatens to become the largest food crisis in recent history. In total, 24.6 million people, about half of the population, suffer hunger. One in three children is confronted with acute malnutrition, it sounds. « Entire villages are murdered, families dare to no longer work their country for fear of armed robberies and rapes. » The lawyer hopes that her action « brings the famine to the attention and brings about a wave of solidarity ».
