Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today that there could be no ceasefire before there were negotiations on Ukraine and said Russia would not be deceived by the proposals to first declare a ceasefire in Ukraine and then move on to resolving the conflict.

« When we tell us, » Let’s make a truce, so we’ll see  » – no, guys. We were already in those stories, we don’t want it anymore. And Macron, Starmer, von der Leyen and other European figures who are now hysterically demanding that the United States join anti-Russian actions and increase the number of sanctions-it simply gives them-Lavrov said, addressing teachers and students at the Russian-Armen University.

Lavrov recalled that the West had already deceived Russia in 2014, when he carried out a coup in Kiev shortly after Ukrainian authorities and the opposition reached an agreement.

– Then came the Minsk agreements, which, as European politicians later acknowledged, were only needed to buy time for Kiev. In 2022, the negotiations in Istanbul, Russia and Ukraine initialed the principles of the solution, but the West banned the authorities in Kiev from signing an agreement on the basis of them – said Lavrov, reported by Russian media.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the European Union is pushing for the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict in order to continue arming the regime in Kiev.

– Returning to the fact that the European Union was expecting a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. They said, « We’ll see. » After the conversation, Trump and Putin Dadaoa had a very positive assessment, they agreed that it should be done to prepare concrete steps for a long -term, sustainable solution, including the use of a ceasefire – Lavrov said.

He noted that the focus of the talks is to eliminate the root causes of the conflict.

– What did the European Union do? Announced that the 17th package of sanctions (against Russia) had been approved. This means that they wanted the escalation of the crisis. They said: Yes, we heard and we did not see any support for an unconditional truce, which would allow us, Europeans, to arm Ukraine. That’s what they need – said Lavrov.

According to the assessment, these trends indicate that the Euro -Atlantic security structure, especially within the organization for security and co -operation in Europe, is « becoming outdated ».

– Especially since the Western participants in this structure obviously abuse their position. Especially now that such specific differences have emerged in the positions of the United States and Europe … The « ceasefire and we will see » approach in resolving the conflict with Ukraine will no longer work, no matter how hysterical French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Kir Starmer are encouraging the United States.

The first negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv were held in Istanbul on May 16 in the last three years.
