Latvian hockey team will go to the World Cup with five debutants / day

Latvian national team head coach Harry Vitolins today named the line -up, who will go to Stockholm on Thursday, including five players who have not played in the World Championships so far – goalkeeper Marek Miten, guard Mika Tumanov and attackers Henri Ravinski, Gleb Prohorenkov and Philip Bunk.

The most experienced player of the team is Captain Kaspars Daugaviņš, who will be the 13th World Championship, but the 11th time Oskars Cibulskis will go to the championship.

In total, three goalkeepers, eight guards and 14 attackers include the line -up.

The World Championship can apply for the elite division 22 field players and three goalkeepers. The Latvian team will do the official hockey team for the tournament shortly before the start of the tournament.

Of those players who have continued to prepare for the championship so far, there was no place for guards Nauris Sēja, Arvill Bergman and Ralph Bergman, as well as strikers Kristaps Skrastiņš, Rainer Ruller and Raimonds Vitolins.

It has already been reported that in preparation for the World Cup, Latvian hockey players beat Austria in the first two test games, but played two matches against Finland in Riga, first winning with a 3: 2 success and then losing by 1: 4. After that, in their lacquer matches with Switzerland, the Latvians celebrated victory with a 3: 2 after -game shot and lost by 2: 4, but last week won the Norwegians by 2: 1, who lost 1: 2 a day later.

Latvian hockey players will play in the same group with Austria, Canada, Finland, Sweden, France, Slovakia and Slovenia. The first game for the Latvian team is scheduled for Saturday against France.

The 2025 World Cup will begin this week and will take place in Stockholm, where the Latvian team will also play, and in the Denmark city of Herning.
