The aircraft from Riga came to the Swedish capital shortly after 7 pm, but the team started its first training session at 10.30.

« We haven’t been to the hotel, but it’s even good, » Rudolfs Kalvītis, the general manager of the state unit, told LETA, pointing out that the players will train well and then go to eat and relax to be ready for tomorrow’s training.

According to LETA, most players arrived at Riga Airport around 5 pm, but that did not prevent the entire team in full workout for more than an hour.

« The team is in a good mood, the guys are hungry for this level of games and everyone is ready to represent their country, » Kalvītis said, adding that the players have no injuries.

So far, though, the general manager did not disclose which players would not initially be included in the application, but it will become known tonight. The team will be opened after the championship directorate meeting.

Speaking about the first opponents of the Latvian national team in the championship for the French, Kalvītis did not hide that the opponent was well known, as they were recently played in the Olympic qualification and the lineup was similar.

« The French team has to be evaluated very seriously, as with all other teams in the tournament, » said the team’s general manager.

The 2025 World Cup will begin this week and will take place in Stockholm, where the Latvian team will also play, and in the Denmark city of Herning.

Latvian hockey players will start the World Cup on Saturday at 9:20 pm with a match against the French, but will play with Canada the next day at 5 pm. The tournament will be on May 13 at 5:20 pm with a match with Slovenia, a day later at 9.20 pm with a housewife Sweden, on May 17 at 31.20 will have to take with the Finnish team, May 18 at 9:20 pm with Slovakia and in the final group game on May 20 at 1:20 pm.

The second group in Herning will play in Denmark, Czech Republic, Germany, USA, Kazakhstan, Norway, Switzerland and Hungary.

The top four teams in each sub -group will qualify for the quarterfinals, but the weakest teams in the group will leave the strongest division.
