Latvian hockey players win Slovakia / Day in an important fight for a place in the quarterfinals

Harald Egle, Dan Ločmelis, Rihards Bukarts, Tom Anderson and Rodrigo Apple scored for the Latvian national team.

Before the final games of the group, Latvia is fourth in the sub -group and ahead of its future opponent Austria, as well as Slovakia, who has a match against Finland by two points.

In Group A, Sweden is the leader with 18 points in six games, Canada and Finland scored 15 and 11 points in five games, nine points in six games for Latvia, seven Austria and Slovakia, and one by France and Slovenia.

At the start of the match, the Slovaks threatened the Latvian national team goal, but the first Latvians won the lead. At the end of the third minute, the fir tree in Slovakia, at the end of the counter -attack, threw a puck into a single touch.

In the second minute of the second period, the Latvians won the puck in the same line -up and passed the Ločmelis, who successfully brought the opponent’s goalkeeper Samuel Hlavay – 2: 1. In less than five minutes, with Latvian hockey players winning the attack zone, Buchart won the puck, who used his chance from the front of the goal – 3: 1.

In the middle of the period, Slovakia remained again in the minority, which was failed to use, but the fourth goal was scored in the same lineup. Anderson was unmistakable in a rapid attack after the passes of Egle and Martin Lavins.

The third period started with the active game of Harry Vitolins subordinates and, as the middle approached, it was possible to play in the majority. In the second half of the third, Gudlevsky prevented Pavol Regend from scoring in one of the episodes.

The Slovaks quickly replaced the goalkeeper with a sixth player on the field, but after a mistake, he scored the fifth goal. Less than four minutes before the end of the regular time, Apple threw the puck net after today’s Jubilārs Kaspars Daugavins’ pass. Later, Ločmelis hit the goal post with a puck.

Latvian hockey players won the first four games with a loss of 4: 1, with a 1: 7 loss to Canada, a 5: 2 defeated Slovenia and a 0: 6 victory over Sweden. The game with the Finns showed close resistance, but lost by 1: 2.

The Slovaks have so far been unevenly – they lost to Sweden with 0: 5 at the start of the championship, then defeated Slovenia with a 3: 1 win over Austria with a 2: 3 after -game shot in the next duel with a 2: 1 win over France and capitulated to Canada on Saturday.

16 teams are divided into two groups, eight teams each, with a round tournament. The top four teams in each group will continue their fight for medals in the quarterfinals, but the weakest teams in both groups will leave the strongest division, and will be replaced by Britain and Italy next year.

The World Championship in Herning, Denmark and the Swedish capital, Stockholm, will end next weekend. Group B games and two quarter -final matches will take place in Herning, while Stockholm will also host two quarter -final duties, semi -final games and medals.
