Latvian hockey players score five goals and Slovenia / Day wins

Kristiāns Rubīns, Henri Ravinskis, Martins Dzierkals, Dan Ločmelis and Eduards Tralmaks scored the goals for the Latvian national team, which, like Tom Anderson, also had two assists.

In Subgroup A, Sweden is the leader with nine points in three games, with Canada and Latvia scoring six points in two and three battles, five points for Finland, four for Slovakia, two for Austria, one for France and Slovenia is free.

Kristers Gudlevsky returned to the Latvian national team’s goal compared to the previous match. The first match was played by Philip Buncis in these championships, but Oskars Batna did not play.

Already in the first half of the game, the Latvians got to the opponent’s goal, but they did not make dangerous shots. In the middle of the first period, the teams began to attack more sharply, and in one of the counterattacks, Dan Ločmelis hit the goal post with a sharp angle.

A little later, Ločmelis went on the rejected bench for blocking, and the opponents hit the score with a puck on the goal. Eduards Tralmaks also left the Latvian team in the minority, with Latvians playing for about 20 seconds in three.

Like the first, the second period Latvians started actively, but scored first. In the third minute of the period, Gudlevsky hit the puck in front of him, where Marcel Mahkovec was the first.

The Latvians put pressure on the opponents’ goal and, in the ninth minute of the period, Rubin scored 1: 1 with a repeat shot. After less than three and a half minutes, Tralmax found Ravinski, who threw a puck in an empty gate corner. After another 21 seconds, the score was 3: 1 for the Latvians, as Tom Anderson was sent by Dzierkals in the puck net.

True, the Slovenians quickly approached the result, as in the same period of the 13th minute, the puck went to Gudlevsky’s guarded goal after Blaza Gregorich’s shot. It didn’t take a full minute when the score was 4: 2, after Robert Mamchica’s ingenious pass, Ločmelis sends the puck.

Latvians also started the third segment, and in the introduction, Kristaps Zīle hit the crossbar with a puck. In the middle of the third, Rudolf Balcer broke into the goal, but the opponent’s guard prevented him from making a dangerous shot, but in another episode, Ločmel’s efforts were suppressed by Slovenian goalkeeper Lukas Horak.

With six minutes left until the end of the regular time, the Rubin’s pass, Tralmax, kept the opponent’s goal and finished the raid with an accurate shot.

The Latvian team started the tournament with a 4: 1 victory over France, but in the second game with a 1: 7 defeat to Canada. Slovenia lost 0: 4 to Canada and 1: 3 for Slovakia.

16 teams are divided into two groups, eight teams each, with a round tournament. The top four teams in each group will continue their battle for medals in the quarterfinals, but the weakest teams in both groups will leave the strongest division, and will be replaced by Britain and Italy next year.
