Something they don’t have in England

Tolstoys last year received an invitation from the prestigious festival as the first Slovak band. « It was a great experience. First of all, Glastonbury went beyond our dreams and we did not expect the invitation. At the same time we were looking forward to the first Slovak band. In a recent interview for SME Singer Ela Tolstová. As she added, they hoped to receive an invitation this year.

According to her, there is an interest in Slovak music abroad. Last year she also sang the Slovak folk song on Glastonbury and for spectators and spectators it was a exotic.

There were three performances at the festival. Glastonbury, as a band, taught them not to be afraid of big goals, but not even climb them.

This year, Tolstoys will set out on a year -round tour across the United Kingdom, Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, including summer festivals. In addition to Glastonbury, they will perform at the Slovak Festivals Pohoda and atmosphere, but also at the Czech Pop Messa or Color Meeting, as well as many others.

Album inspired by tour

They return to Glastonbury after the fourth album The Buzz, which was created on the basis that they felt close to people. « We created songs during last year’s tour, we wrote them in backstags, in the van, sound rehearsals. They came to us and played them at the concerts.

The album was recorded live, which was inspired by the Glastonbury tour: they wanted to authentically capture the closeness of the concerts and the interconnection of people.

« Everybody went out on a stage at one concert and stood around us. We were suddenly as one person. It was completely magical. We knew we wanted this closeness and we had to achieve the latest recording. We thought for a long time how to achieve it, » she said.

The band members live and form in Berlin. After ten years, they managed to open their own recording studio and space.
