Lander « Blue Ghost » put on the moon – DiePresse.com
The land ferry should now examine the moon for two weeks. « Blue Ghost » started with the help of a Falcon 9 rocket from the SpaceX space company.
Around a year after the first commercial moon landing in space history, a second land ferry of a US company has put on the earth's drabant. The approximately two-meter-high and three-meter-wide « Blue Ghost » (in German: Blauer Spirit) successfully landed in the so-called « Mare Crisium », a lowlands with a diameter of around 500 kilometers, as was seen in the live stream of the US room trip authority NASA and the company Firefly Aerospace.
For around two weeks, the country is now to examine the moon with numerous scientific instruments. « Blue Ghost » started in January with the help of a Falcon 9 rocket by the SpaceX space company from Tech billionaire Elon Musk.
The departure took place from the Cape Canaveral space station in the US state of Florida. The “Resilience” of the Japanese start-up ISPACE was also on board the rocket. However, this lander should fly to the moon on another track and only arrive there in a few months.
First commercial moon landing in February 2024 with « Nova-C »
Moon landings are considered to be technically highly demanding and often go wrong. It was only in February last year that the US company intuitive machines had succeeded in the first commercial landing of space history on the moon with « Nova-C ».
Both « Nova-C » and « Blue Ghost » are part of the NASA program CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payoad Services). With this program, the US room trip authority wants to collect as much knowledge as possible on its own way back to the moon by awarding contracts for moon landings to private companies and working with them.
