On the road after Kysuce One will experience various surprises. Those who are expecting natural beauty from this region will undoubtedly find them there. But the visitor can be pleasantly surprised from other architectural or historically interesting places and buildings.
“Municipalities have been building new lookout tower, cozy, nature trails in recent years, revitalizing their tourist sites. It is constantly renewing and increasing the network of cycling and hiking trails,” describes the efforts to attract tourists to this North Slovak region Emília Malousová, director of tourism organization Kysuce.
According to her, however, the potential of the region is not fully exploited. “For example, we lack aquaparks or amusement parks for families with children and also a quality gastro offer,” he adds.
According to the data that OCR has up to 80 percent of the total number of visitors Kysuc is home guests from Slovakia. From abroad they make up the majority, up to 70 percent, Czechs. Poles go to Kysuce little and these should be attracted by the region. The whole region is more detailed in Bedekri Žilina region.
Hiking instead of skiing
Since snow is less skiing that has ever been a magnet for Czechs and Poles every year in Kysuce, they can no longer rely. Tourism experts think that Kysuce should bet on the development of summer tourism and especially cycling.
“It is the tourism, the knowledge of the history and traditions of the Kysuce region, that they should become the main point of tourism,” explains Peter Kvasnica, author of the project Kysucká.
On his website you can order a guide to the city of Čadca, which will show you the lost historical monuments of the city. You will also learn a lot about the history of Kysucky settlements, whose knowledge can attract tourists.
Although you will not find castles in Kysuce, other types of monuments are hidden in villages and towns across the northwest corner of Slovakia, they just need to be discovered with people who know the region.
Get to know the top monuments, but also places to take you only Book Guide Slovakia.
Who prefers city tourism can visit the district town of Čadca. There will be a small historic core, or rather a street where you will find nice historic buildings, which are unfortunately complemented by socialist architecture. Sacral architecture is worth seeing the oldest preserved church in the Upper Kysuce- Baroque Church of Sts. Bartholomew from the 18th century.
A huge wall painting may be surprised in the streets of Čadca. There is a tinker that is a symbol of former glory of Kysucky tinths who have come up with this craft all over the world. It is the history of tinkering that is worth watching in Kysuce.
The mansion in Radol will surprise fantastic
Who likes historical monuments and museums, we recommend to visit the Renaissance mansion in the village of Radoľa, which is part of the Kysucké Museum. Historian Andrea Paráčová willingly guides you all over the mansion.
In addition to permanent exhibitions, where you will learn about the owners and history of the mansion you can also see an exhibition of antique holiday postcards from the region. In one room of the mansion we will be surprised by the temporary exhibition of the world of fantasy. At the exhibition you can see a world full of magical countries, dragons, magical beings and magic.
The Kysucka Gallery is a feast for the eyes
At the beginning of Očšadnice there is an inconspicuous turn to a large forest park at the end of which is a beautiful building of the mansion on the hill, where the Kysucka Gallery is located. It was recently renovated as a helpful guide tells us.
We admire the sensitive restoration of a building with olive wooden shutters. In the gallery there are works especially local artists and natives who were behind the emergence of the gallery and donated part of their works. It is also worth wandering into the forest park under the gallery, where there are wooden statues.
Cycling by Bystrická dolina
The best cycling route in the Kysuce region is a cycling route in Bystrická dolina. It starts in Oščadnica, continues through Krásno nad Kysucou and stretches by Bystrická dolina to Vychylovka. It has more than 20 kilometers and its advantage is that it is asphalt and separated from the road for cars. That is why it is safe and suitable for families with children. Less proficient cyclists will also be pleased that the elevation of the route is only mild.
« Cycling has an increasing tendency. Numerous groups of cyclists come to me from abroad, » describes the owner of the cottage at the end of the world, Mária Jancová. Her cottage is really at the end, up to Vychylovka. Behind it are just mountains and border with Poland.
Jancová recalls that cyclists are not clients who would spend more days in one place. « They usually need accommodation for one night because they want to go through the more places, » he explains.
In addition to the cycle route there are different places where it is worth stopping, but certainly do not miss the Slovak astronomical clock in Stará Bystrica. Although it is not as old as Prague, it is interesting, albeit a little kitsch.
The visitor also attracts the whole square that was created around the astronomical clock where it is not missing restaurant and souvenir shop. Normally, the visitor will not find such an infrastructure for tourists.
